…and also my first blog entry! Well, that’s not completely true; before getting married I used to blog about our wedding preparations. However the wedding is now 2, 5 years ago now (time really flies!), and I haven’t touched the blog/our website since then; at the most I’ve uploaded some pictures from one or two of our vacations. But nevertheless; this is my first entry in my card making blog. 🙂
I’ve been making cards for family and friends for close to four years now, and for several years I’ve been using the Web as a source of inspiration. I really enjoy following sketches and I find it very interesting to view different card makers’ interpretations of a sketch or a theme when they are taking part in a challenge. Speaking of challenges; although I very much like to work with sketches, I’ve never gotten around to enter into a blog challenge; most of the time when I’ve come across a sketch I’d like to use, it’s been shortly before closure of the challenge, so that I haven’t been able to finish the card on time, or the sketch I’ve seen didn’t fit in at all with my idea for the card I wanted to make…however the sketch from last week or the week before did so I decided to use that one instead… 🙂 Well, I am determined to change this in 2010 and at least enter into a few challenges. Now that I have got a blog, I feel better organized already!
Getting organized seems to have been a New Year’s Resolution for many crafters this year. I had thought about creating a blog for quite some time, as I would like to keep better track of my creations; which sketches I’ve used for my cards, which Copic markers, papers, embellishments etc. However, as with so many other things, I didn’t get around to it, but as the New Year unfolded, I thought it was about time I put this thought into action. So I went ahead and opened a Google Blogger account, but then my husband suggested I’d use this domain instead; we purchased this domain some years ago and used it as an information site for our wedding guests. As it’s not as easy and straight forward setting up a WordPress blog as a Google Blog, my husband helped me doing it. Thanks, honey!
Enough introduction now and over to the essentials…the cards!!!
I used the following sketch from Motivet’s Inspiration Blog. They have got some really fabulous sketches (I’ll show one more that I used in one of my coming blog entries), not to mention their adorable stamps; Hilda the Hippo, the squirrels Doraline & Dexter, the moose Morris…. Unfortunately, I don’t own any Motivet Stamps yet…but I’ll make sure this changes in the near future!
Stamp: “Daisy”, Sugar Nellie
Papers: The Paper Company ANW Crestwoods & Memory Box “Sprout Collection”
Sentiment: Computer generated, distressed edges
(Grattis is Swedish for “Congratulations”)
Embellishments: Mulberry Roses & Leaves, Hearts Lace, Ribbon, Pearls
Tomorrow I’ll post three more cards that I’ve made this year prior to the birth of this blog.
