Last Saturday I stumbled upon the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog, where the theme was “Lollipops” and I saw lots of gorgeous cards with the “Lolli Anya” stamp, created by the DT members. As I had thought about getting this stamp for quite some time, I decided it was time to take action; I headed straight over to the Quixotic Paperie, which sells The Greeting Farm’s Stamps. Miraculously, by the time I was checking out a few more stamps and some other bits & bops had found their way into my cart… 🙄
Anyway; my order arrived yesterday at work (I try to always have my parcels sent to work, so I don’t have to wait for the weekend to go and collect them from the post depot 😉 ). The only disadvantage is of course, that one has to wait until getting back home, before the new supplies can be tried out…
Hurried back home from work, inked up the stamp and started coloring. Since this is a really fun and cheerful stamp, I wanted to do something different, so I decided to go with bright and bold colors (also a bit fed up with the pastel cards I’ve made lately). I can’t believe how much fun it was; I don’t think I ever enjoyed coloring an image as much as I did with this one. For being my first Anya, I think I did a pretty ok job, or?
However, I have a confession to make… After having colored her hair and her skin, I unfortunately messed up her dress, so that’s why I stamped the image on the background paper, cut out the dress and glued it on to the image (thus a bit of paper piecing here, also a first timer for me). Well out of bad things, also come positives; this enabled me to enter into Totally Gorjuss blog challenge…as their current challenge happens to be “Paper Piecing”! 🙂
The sketch I used is from the Sketch and Stash Challenge Blog. This challenge is two folded; the first part is to use the sketch provided; the second part is to use something from your newest stash. Well, I’d say my “Lolli Anya” without any doubt fulfils this criterion! I’ve seen quite a number of people additionally mentioning the old materials they have used on their cards; I don’t think it’s mandatory, but I’ll do it anyway just in case… The papers are from Papermania’s Collection “Naughty and Nice Christmas” (2008).
I have entered this card into the following challenges:
