Adorable Aurora misses two challenges

Last Sunday I saw this color combination over at the Color Throwdown Challenge Blog. This combo is something I’d probably not have thought of myself, but I really liked it, so I decided to give it a go. However, in the evening the ice hockey final of the Vancouver games took place, so I couldn’t finish the card on time for the challenge.  🙁

Nevermind; as I was using the sketch from Friday Sketchers, I thought I’d have plenty of time to finish the card before Friday… Turned out I had an extremely busy week at work and had to work every evening at home just to keep on top of things, so I missed the deadline for Friday Sketchers as well. 😥

Well, now it’s finally weekend and I’ve got time for card making, so today I’ve managed to finish this card. Luckily for me St Patrick’s Day is approaching and there are several challenge blogs that are going with the green theme this week.  😀

"Aurora takes a Break", Susana's Custom Art and Card Design

I had been dying to try out one of my new Aurora stamps by SCACD and I chose this one as I think the image is fitting for an Easter card, which this is. Not all Easter cards need to have bunnies and chicks on them, do they? 😕

She’s gorgeous, and it was a lot of fun coloring the image but it did take my ages and several attempts as there are so many details and one has to be very careful not to go outside the lines.

The good thing about not having had time to finish this card during the week, was that now I was able to use my new Mulberry flowers;  I placed an order with Wild Orchid Craft last Sunday (OMG was it hard not to spend a fortune at their store…they are extremely well stocked!) and I recieved my parcel on Thursday.

The other type embellishment I used are the eyelets. It’s been ages since I last used eyelets and I guess I wouldn’t have either, if it weren’t for it being this week’s theme at the Creative Belli Blog:

“Now who doesn’t have eyelets just lying around waiting to be used and maybe even a little dust on them? How long has it been since you have used eyelets?”

…too long I guess, but on the other hand I find it difficult to get them into the right place, and moreover it’s noisy to work with them! Scared my poor cat off the desk when I started hammering them onto this card…
