Male Card

When the Allsort’s Challenge “Just for Men” was over on Saturday, I had not even started on my male card… On Thursday evening I feel asleep whilst reading the Stampin’ Up catalogue, and Friday evening I was so exhausted after this extremely busy week at work that card making was the last thing on my mind. Yesterday I was also just taking it easy and I was too lazy make any cards, but I did do a bit of blog hopping in the evening, checking out the current challenges. 😕

This is the inspiration picture for this week’s challenge over at the Colour Create Challenge Blog: “Mint, Chocolate and White”. When it comes to making male cards, I usually grab my blue and brown paper stack, but this time I wanted to make something different, and then I remembered I have some gorgeous papers that happen to be mint and brown. My sister gave them to me last year for my birthday, and I’ve only used them once before (also for a male card).

This is another stamp from Motivet – the cute squirrel “Dexter” and I think he’s just perfect for male cards! However; he is not the easiest of fellas’ to color. I did quite a lot of experimenting and tried blending many different colors, before I managed to get the right red tone to his fur. I’m still not completely satisfied, but this is as good as it gets this time!  For this card I’ve not used this week’s sketch from Motivet (I hope to still be able to make a card using their sketch until Thursday), but a sketch from the Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog.
