Same but Different

These are the two cards I had intended to complete yesterday…

As always I started with coloring the image, but whilst working on the first image (blonde Aurora), I noticed that my colorless blender was close to empty. I had seen it coming and I had planned on buying refill ink, but just not gotten around to it yet. When coloring images with Copics, I tend to use the colorless blender a lot, and since I wanted to make a few card this weekend, I had no choice but go emergency shopping in London. I usually buy all my Copics online; as no store in Reading carries them. I didn’t feel like going all the way to London, so I tried calling a couple of stores in Maidenhead, but had no luck, and thus had to go to the London Graphic Centre in Covent Garden. Bought two bottles of refill ink and a handful new markers. Since I was fairly close to Bloomsbury, I figured I’d also pay Blade’s Rubber Stamp Store a visit.  When I started making cards, this was the store I bought my very first rubber stamps from. Back then I was like a child in a candy store; amazed by all the products. They still have quite a lot of nice stuff, but not that much that I fancy. I still bought a couple of sheets of design papers and some embellishments, but didn’t spend more than a tenner (which must be a new record! 😆 ).

Anyway; back to the cards, which I finished today. It’s been a long time since I’ve made the same card in different color schemes… This is what I tend to do when I have lots of cards to make for an occasion and I’m running out of time… Decided to use the sweet Aurora stamp by SCACD and chose a simple sketch from Truly Scrumptious.

This was the first card I made and the colors  (mint, lilac and pink) were chosen to fit in with this week’s Recipe Challenge over at the Sophisticat Blog: “Mint Green +Lilac + One More Color + Flowers”.

Last weekend I bought quite a lot of new design papers, amongst those two Easter papers. One I have already used earlier this week for my “Scene It” card, and this is the second one. I love the cheerful colors! This is my favorite out of these two cards, and therefore brunette Aurora will be having more fun than blonde Aurora. 🙂 i.e. I will enter this card into more challenges.
