Glittering Winter Wonderland

Here’s the second Christmas card I’ve made this weekend, and it’s the eight one for this year, meaning that I now have managed about 1/3. 😀

With this card really challenged myself as I decided to follow the Pink Elephant’s challenge theme, “Mostly White”.  White is without any doubt the most used color – I mean which card does not have a bit of white/cream or ivory on it?! However, making a card in pre-dominantly white was far from easy. The problem started already when I went through my paper stash; the only suitable paper I could find was a  semi transparent paper with glitter on it. Luckily, I found an easy sketch with only two layers over at the LOTV challenge blog. This was perfect as I still had a couple of unused LOTV Christmas stamps, one of them being this one  which is called “Dropping the Shopping”.

As it also has a cute doggy on it, it meant I could take part in C.R.A.F.T’s challenge “Man’s Best Friend”. Interestingly I think this is the first card I’ve ever made that has a dog on it. It’s not that I don’t like dogs (my family has always had dogs), but when I think about it there seem to be very few stamps with dogs out there, or is this just something I’m imagining since I have cats myself and I buy a lot of cat stamps?! 🙄

Not sure…I’ve got stamps with hedgehogs, mooses, rabbits, squirrels, mice, penguins, hippos and obviously cats, but  I believe this is my very first stamp with a dog!

What do you think? Are there more cat stamps than dog stamps? Which animal is the most common stamp motif, generally speaking and in your collection?

Back to the card; I decided to combine the white with pastel blue, a combination I love, especially for Christmas cards. I glued the transparent glitter paper onto a very light blue sheet of cardstock. The second layer is plain white paper that I’ve embossed with the Cuttlebug snowflake folder. Also the mats I created myself; I just distressed some white paper with Tim Holtz weathered wood and faded jeans distress ink. The large Poinsetta has once again been coated with the Twinklet’s Diamond Dust and then I added lots of Star Dust glitter to the image and the flowers. I’m very happy with the outcome of the card and proud that I was able to resist exchanging the white flowers and berries for light blue ones… 😉
