LLC January Challenge: Something Old

New Year and New Challenge over @the Live & Love Crafts’ Challenge & Inspiration Blog. However, we’re not going with “something new” as most challenge blogs will use as a theme now in January, instead  we have chosen “something old”. :-)

For quite some time I’ve thought about using old family photos for projects, and when I received an e-mail from GDT Lin Monika,  and saw her gorgeous baby card, featuring a picture of her dad’s first pair of shoes, then I got so inspired that I finally sprung into action. :-) Thanks for the inspiration, Lin Monika.
I scanned a B/W photo, then changed it into sepia in PSE, resized it so it’d fit my frame (yup my Cameo is cutting again, now that I have a new blade :-) ) and then brought it to a photoshop in town (as I only have a B/W laser printer at home).
These are my maternal grandparent’s at their wedding in 1947, I believe. You see where I got my looks from?! :-)   Unfortunately both of them have passed, but I thought this’d be a beautiful way to honor their memory and I’m going to send this card to my parents for their wedding anniversary. I’ve always adored this photo and when my granny passed away my mum actually gave me the frame with this wedding photo, that my grandparents used to have standing in their bedroom.

Here are some more close up pics:
Hope you can join us for the January challenge – please pop over to the LLC Blog and check out the amazing inspiration by our two GDTs and the LLC DT.

  8. Absolutely exquisite piece – I love that you’ve used a personal photograph – and it’s a beautiful one. The details and layers are just wonderful and the filigree metal pieces are a perfect finishing touch. So glad to have found LLC (I so love the Scandinavian crafting style – delighted to find you stocking the products) and your amazing team of crafters… just joined in the challenge for the first time, but I think it won’t be the last!!
