Yesterday it was my turn to post my “non-square” project to the LLC Inspiration Blog. It’s been an interesting week with some great card shapes. I’ve always loved the look of shaped cards created with the XL Go Kreate dies, and before Christmas I was about to buy the Spellbinders Grand Calibur and some dies, but then hubby convinced me to buy an electronic die cutting machine instead, the Silhouette Cameo, which is now my best friend. 🙂
This is a birthday card for a friend’s mum, who’s turning 70 on February, 9th. I haven’t gotten around to making him a card yet…male cards are not exactly my favourite thing but I need to get it done ASAP as my parents are leaving for Thailand on Saturday…
This card on the other hand though, was one of the easiest ones I’ve made in a long time. Didn’t have to put any thinking into it; the Cameo took care of the shape, and a a couple of weeks ago when my friend was over, she picked out the image, the paper, the embellishments and later she e-mailed me the sentiment, so all I needed to do was to make them fit on the card. 🙂 Should be like that all the time…then card making would be sooooooo easy! LOL
The sentiment “L’Amour de ma vie” (the love of my life) is of course French, it’s such a beautiful and romantic language, perfect for vintage and I really wish I could speak it!
Initially though it was far from easy for my friend to decide and I showed her loads of samples of the DT’s work here on the blog, but instantly when she saw Karita’s card for this month’s LLC challenge she knew what she wanted. Hence; this card is a CASE (copy and selective edit) of Karita’s card.
Here are some close ups of the shabby details; added loads of Gesso like Karita usually does, there’s shabby seam binding (Storm Clouds), and a shabby bark heart. The idea to use Maja Design’s die cut letters on the bark heart came from another of my DT Members, Tracy.
My friend told me she loves it, now I can only hope her mum likes shabby…otherwise I’ll be in trouble! LOL
Thanks for stopping by.
