New Rubber Stamps Delivery

Wohoo; today I recieved the stamps I ordered from Quixotic Paperie on Sunday.  Quixotic is currently celebrating its 1st Anniversary with a 10% discount, and as if that wasn’t enough, many of the  C.C. Designs stamps are now on sale (20% off)!!! I don’t like all of the C.C. Design stamps  (just as  with the older Magnolia stamps, there is something about the faces of the Sugarplums images I dislike), but the Swiss Pixels and Kiki la Rue images I find adorable, so these stamps have now been added to my collection:

The two stamps from the The Greeting Farm; “Stella” & “Savannah”, I’ve been wanting to get my hands on for a long time. “Stella” is readily available at almost every online store that is selling The Greeting Farms’ stamps, but “Savannah” I haven’t seen anywhere (not even at The  Farm’s own webshop), so I was thrilled when browsing through Quixotic’s selection of The Greeting Farms’ stamps and I finally found her! :-D I think I know what I’ll be doing this weekend….

Under the Sea

This is my take on Disney’s the Little Mermaid movie:

When I was craft shopping in Holland I found these fish brads, which I thought would be fun to use for water themed card for a child. As my godson’s fourth birthday is coming up soon, I made his birthday card this weekend. I bought the “Mermaid Emma” stamp by C.C. Designs a couple of months ago (have not gotten around using it yet), but as this card is for a little boy, I thought why not use a boy mermaid stamp?  So I headed straight over to The Greeting Farm Web Shop and ordered the digital stamp “Mer Ian”.

"Mer Ian", The Greeting Farm

This is the first time I’ve ever used a digital stamp as well as digital images (the other images are from the HelloKids website), so I was bit concerned that it would smear when using my Copics on the printed images.  However, it worked out surprisingly well; no issue at all with the darker colors, just needed to be a bit careful with the lighter colors.  For once I haven’t used any Design Paper, but just plain paper and cardstock. The sand I created by crumbling up some plain white paper, which I went over with distress ink (tea dye & vintage photo), then I sprayed it with Glimmer Mist (iridescent Gold), and finally I added some Stickles (Cinnamon). I haven’t done heat embossing in ages, but for this card, I stamped with a bubble stamp on some blue paper and then embossed it. It’s a bit hard to tell from the photo, but all images are placed on 3D cushions/foam.

Anya 4 Ania

Here’s a little “Cheer Up” card I’ve made for a colleague.

I wanted to use vibrant “happy colors, so I cut into my new Imaginisce papers that I bought when we were in Holland about a month ago. Green is my absolute favorite color at the moment, I think it goes well with almost any other color! I decided to use my Flutter Anya stamp from the Greeting Farm, so that I could join in with The Roses on Paper Challenge, which this week is this sketch:

No. 14

Here it; no 14 – this year’s last Easter card. :-) Next year; remind me to get started with the Easter cards as soon as Christmas is over …and yes speaking of Christmas, I’ve now promised myself that before next week is over, I will have made my 1st Christmas card… ;-)

Back to this card; I used this week’s sketch from Sketch Saturday. It’s quite a simple sketch and I chose to use only one paper and ribbon & raffia instead of another layer of paper (s). Nonetheless, I spent a lot of time on adding details. Here are some close ups:

I think by now I must have entered every single Easter/Spring challenge there is out there in blogland :-P , but I did manage to find at least one, except for the sketch challenge that I could enter this card into:

Sketch Saturday Week #97

Wild & Crazy Easter Anya

Once in a while when making my cards, I tend to flip out a bit and go for something unusual like very bold colors.  I love to make cards using subtle pastel colors and cute images, but sometimes it’s fun doing something on the wild side – it keeps your creativity alive!  “Nobody puts baby in a corner…” ;-) I think the Anya stamps are perfect for this purpose; not that they aren’t cute, they most definitely are, but they are somehow “tougher” in their appearance.

So, I finally got around to inking up my Easter Anya Stamp; when I bought it thought it’d be the stamp I’d use the most for this year’s Easter cards, but no my new Bunny stamps from Motivet and Wags’n Whiskers, as well as the Aurora stamps had the upper hand. For this card I followed the Sketch from Club Anya & Friends, and this’ll be the first time I’m entering into one of their challenges!
